1. Karen Gables

Located in the leafy suburbs of Karen, Nairobi, Karen Gables is a gorgeous private home surrounded by 1.5 acres of lush gardens. Designed in timeless Cape Dutch Style, the guest house has six luxurious rooms. Guests can enjoy a solar heated outdoor swimming pool, 2 bars/lounges, concierge services and WiFi in public areas. 

2. Tortilis Camp

Kenya, Amboseli National Park

Tortilis Camp is named after the local Acacia Tortilis tree, and is situated just outside the Park in an area of unspoiled woodland. The thatch covered tents are large and spacious, and feature king or twin beds, elegant en-suite bathrooms and private verandas. With Mt. Kilimanjaro peering down over the entire camp, each of the tents have glorious views of the mountain. Tortilis Camp prides itself in serving up fresh homegrown salads and vegetables from its healthy vegetable garden. From impressive bush breakfasts out in the middle of the plains, to homemade pasta and bread at the camp, the Tortilis chefs excel with every meal. The camp guides are based in camp and know their backyard intimately. More than half of the guides are Maasai, and together, have combined guiding experience of 80 years. In between safari activities, enjoy the swimming pool, or indulge in a massage, manicure or pedicure.


3. Lewa Safari Camp

Sprawling over the Laikipia plains, this unique and exclusive retreat offers privileged access to 65,000 acres of private protected wilderness. Featuring large tented bedrooms with spacious verandas and full en-suite bathrooms, the camp offers authentic comfort. The central areas have exquisite gardens with a large sunny veranda and a swimming pool to enjoy during the day. At night, cozy log fires in the lounge and dining room are perfect for chilly evenings. Meals are prepared by a team of skilled cooks, using the freshest ingredients sourced from the mountain highlands. Lewa offers a host of activities for observing animals in their natural habitat. Choose from day and night game drives or guided bush walks. Evening horse rides allow you to get very close to plains game, while evening camel rides, is another picturesque experience. Horse rides are for experienced riders only and camel rides are suitable for non-experienced riders.

4. Sand River Masai Mara Camp

Sand River Masai Mara is located on the banks of the Sand River, within the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Comprising only 16 tents, including a family tent, the camp replicates the heyday of exclusive tented camps of the late 1920’s. The spacious en-suite tents feature a bedroom and lounge, and amenities include a bathtub, outdoor shower, solar heated hot water, twin vanity, writing desk, hairdryer, digital safe and a charging point with universal adapter. The camp is divided into two separate but adjoining campsites, with each area possessing its own designated dining and public areas, thereby creating an increased sense of exclusivity and privacy. Additional facilities include a billiard room, library and refreshing swimming pool with a large sun deck. Wi-Fi is available in the main reception areas. Sand River Masai Mara is an ideal destination for exceptional game viewing at any time of the year.


Day 1. Arrive Nairobi, Kenya

Jambo na Karibu! Welcome to Nairobi, or the “place of cool waters” in the Maasai language. After a warm welcome, you’ll be driven to your ideally located hotel.

Day 2. Nairobi / Amboseli National Park

Your safari takes off with a flight to Amboseli National Park. Upon checking into your well-appointed tented camp, meet your expert ranger for an afternoon game drive. Capture panoramic photos of some of Africa's largest elephants as they amble through the grasslands with the snowcapped Mt. Kilimanjaro as the backdrop. Cap off your day with traditional sundowners as you marvel at views of Africa's highest mountain glowing in the twilight. (BLD)

Day 3. Amboseli National Park

Rise with dawn's early light for your game drive - you may catch up with the big cats, sated after their night hunt. Watch for wildebeest, zebra, impala and warthogs and see how many of the 300 species of birds you can spot. Tonight, unwind and be mesmerized by the dazzling blanket of stars. (BLD)

Day 4. Amboseli / Lewa Wildlife Conservancy

Fly north to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. Arrive at your camp in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive in search of the unique species found in this region including the Grevy zebra and reticulated giraffe. (BLD)

Day 5. Lewa Wiildlife Conservancy

Start the day with an early morning game drive in the quiet serene wilderness. Perhaps you'll come upon a cheetah snuggling with her cubs or a herd of gerenuk browsing in the foliage. Before your afternoon game drive, laze poolside and take in the views of wildlife lingering nearby. (BLD)

Day 6. Lewa Wildlife Conservancy / Maasai Mara

Your adventure continues as you take wing to the Maasai Mara, Kenya's premier game reserve. Your traditional safari camp is located along the Sand River, where over a million wildebeest and zebra make their migration crossing every year. With your camera gear ready, meet your expert rangers and take off on a game drive across the reserve's tree-flecked grasslands. You’ll be amazed by the herds of plains game, elephants and a wide variety of other animals and birds. (BLD)

Day 7. Maasai Mara

Awaken with the animals to join your morning game drive. Keep a lookout for the black-maned lion, leopards and cheetahs returning from their night hunt. Explore the bends of the traversing river where hippos and crocodiles spread out in their favorite feeding grounds. This afternoon, set out for a second game drive. After dinner, gather around the campfire and share your favorite wildlife photos with your safari companions. (BLD)

Sand River Maasai Mara


Day 8. Maasai Mara

Greet the sunrise with a balloon ride, over the Maasai Mara. Float effortlessly above the open plains, while the wildlife graze contentedly unaware of your presence. In the time-honored tradition, toast your landing and enjoy a full breakfast on the open plains. Your ground crew will become your chefs and the balloon pilot your toastmaster. Day 9. Maasai Mara

Soak up your last morning on safari. Fly to Nairobi, enjoy lunch and a place to relax at a reserved hotel day room. This afternoon, visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and its pioneering Orphan's Project for a visit with your foster elephant. The organization works in partnership with the Kenya Wildlife Service and offers hope for any orphaned elephant fortunate enough to be found alive. Transfer to the airport for your onward arrangements. You may be leaving Africa behind, but you’ll return home with memories that will last forever. (BL)
