Hike up and then rappel down Table Mountain, climb into a cage and descend into the Atlantic to get eye-to-eye with great white sharks, and view the mist of Victoria Falls as you zipline through the canopy. 1. The Commodore Hotel

The Commodore, located at the highest point on Cape Town’s historic Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, offers spectacular views of Table Mountain, Signal Hill, Granger Bay, Table Bay and Robben Island. Each of the elegantly furnished en-suite bedrooms is air-conditioned, bright and spacious. All rooms have satellite TV, tea/coffee making facilities, mini bar, in-room internet access, electric razor plug and hair dryer. 2. Mashatu Main Camp

Situated on the eastern fringes of the Kalahari Desert, Mashatu Lodge is an oasis among the undulating and seemingly endless plains of the wild. The luxury suites lie along the camp’s perimeter and are designed to allow absolute privacy and a communion with the bush and its inhabitants. Each of the air-conditioned suites has a double bed and an extra-large single bed, together with a seating area that includes a single day bed, an en-suite bathroom with both bath and shower facilities, completes the well-appointed suites. Meals are a celebration of traditional African cuisine. Relax at the large swimming pool between game activities and for a touch of retail therapy, the fully stocked curio shop showcases a variety of African crafts, clothing and jewelry. Day 2. Cape Town

Get ready for an adrenaline-charged day on Table Mountain. For the epitome of breathtaking views, hike the Platteklip Gorge to the top of Table Mountain; then rappel down the steep slope looking out over the city, Table Bay and Robben Island. Feel the charge of completing “the world’s highest commercial abseil.” (B)

Day 3. Cape Town

With “Jaws” sparking your imagination, set out for a boat ride to Dyer Island in search of sharks. Work up your courage and descend in a reinforced cage beneath the sea to safely watch the menacing prehistoric fish. Day 4. Cape Town / Tuli Game Reserve, Botswana

Take flight to the Northern Tuli Game Reserve, situated in the remote eastern corner of Botswana. This is a place of exceptional beauty with rugged, unspoiled African landscapes, unchanged since the days of early visitors such as Kipling, Selous and artist/explorer Sir Thomas Baines. (BLD)

Day 5. Tuli Game Reserve

Wake up with the wildlife and join your expert ranger for a game drive in an open-air safari vehicle for the chance to spot some of the many different animals. Mashatu “Land of Giants”, takes its name from the Mashatu tree and the giants that roam its terrain, the African elephant – world’s largest mammal, the lion – king of the beasts, the giraffe – world’s tallest mammal, the eland – world’s largest antelope, the ostrich – world’s largest bird, and the kori bustard – world’s heaviest flying bird. This is an ornithologist’s dream and birdwatchers will delight in checking off the reserve’s 350 bird species, including the enchanting lilac-breasted roller, whose plumage features no less than seven shades of blue. Day 6. Tuli Game Reserve

Begin the day with a game drive to explore this diverse wilderness. Along the river courses, huge Mashatu trees provide shade for eland, impala, wildebeest, giraffe and zebra. Return to camp for a hearty brunch and a dip in the pool. As the sun cools down, join your ranger on an evening game drive in search of the bat-eared fox, African wildcat and the magnificent leopard. Dinner is served under the stars in the traditional open-air boma, while the sounds of the surrounding bushveld serenade you. (BLD)

Day 7. Tuli Game Reserve / Johannesburg

Soak up the pink glow of sunrise and your last hours in the bush before flying off to Johannesburg and your well appointed hotel. (B)

Day 8. Johannesburg / Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

Take flight to Victoria Falls for three days soaking up the world’s largest curtain of falling water, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Zambezi National Park. Before the sun sets, board the classic teak Ra-Ikane, named for David Livingstone’s guide, and sip a sundowner or two as you watch for elephants, hippos and crocodiles along the river banks. (B)

Day 9. Victoria Falls

Kick off your day with a game drive on your way to the Zambezi National Park for some adventurous canoeing. After your qualified guide provides a thorough safety briefing and instruction, paddle down river, running small rapids, exploring channels looking for birds and other wildlife. Lunch and a cold beer await you at your disembarkation point some ten miles downstream. Return to your lodge for an afternoon poolside. (B)

Day 10. Victoria Falls

Today’s immersion in Victoria Falls starts with a guided walk along the misty overlooks to watch for rainbows. Marvel at the 100 million gallons of water per minute crashing through the channels. Then, head into Zambezi National Park for a full menu of thrilling rides. Look straight down on the river’s turbulent rapids as you zipline through the forest canopy along the Batoka Gorges, reaching over 65 miles per hour. Harness into a gigantic swing for a wild ride 300 feet above the river. Or try the Flying Fox, just take “a running jump into thin air over the gorge.” Even tonight’s dinner at your lodge will be adventurous. Specializing in traditional Zimbabwean dishes and renowned for its warthog fillet, the Boma feast will sate you with a four-course barbecue feast - the Mopane worms are optional. Get into the rhythm of the bush with performances by Amakwezi dancers and join in the drumming circle. (BD)

Transfer to the airport for your departure flight bound for Johannesburg and your connecting international flights. You may be leaving Africa behind but you’ll return home with fantastic photos and memories that will always live on in your heart. (B)
