2. Elephant Valley Lodge

Elephant Valley Lodge lies between the Chobe National Park and the Matetsi Wildlife Conservancy, within the Kasane Forest Reserve, overlooking a waterhole. Meru-styled tents ensure that you are able to hear the multitude of night sounds as you drift away with vivid thoughts of the experiences of your day on safari. Each of the tents features twin beds, ensuite bathroom with shower and toilet, mini safe, tea and coffee making facilities, fan and covered deck. Sturdy acacias reach high above the camp, forming large canopies of shade. The secluded hide, refreshing swimming pool, lounge, dining deck and boma are all focused around the active waterhole. Activities include daily safaris and boat cruises into the Chobe National Park. 

3. Victoria Falls Safari Lodge

Victoria Falls Safari Lodge is set on a plateau overlooking the Zambezi National Park and only a few minutes from the majestic Victoria Falls. The lodge prides itself on hospitality, rivaled only by the uninterrupted views and magnificent sunsets. All the en-suite bedrooms feature a private balcony, with views of the African bush and a central waterhole. The rooms are equipped with digital safes, direct dial telephones, air conditioning, hairdryers, fans, minibar refrigerator, tea and coffee making facilities, and wireless internet access. The main lodge has a swimming pool, TV lounge with satellite link and a library. Dining options are varied and cater to your mood and appetite. MaKuwa-Kuwa is an à la carte restaurant with spectacular views overlooking the waterhole, while the Boma offers a unique African experience including traditional dancers, an interactive drumming show and mouth-watering local and international dishes every evening. The Buffalo Bar has its own game viewing platform and the pool deck serves a snack menu. 

4. Davison's Camp

Zimbabwe, Hwange National Park

Davison's Camp lies deep in Hwange National Park, in the southeastern Linkwasha Concession - one of the best game viewing areas of the entire park. Named after the founder of Hwange National Park and its first warden, Ted Davison, this camp offers a wonderful bush experience. It is a classic African tented camp, with the units tastefully hidden beneath a grove of trees, overlooking a productive waterhole. Each of the spacious tents features en-suite bathrooms, ceiling fans, large viewing windows and a veranda. During the siesta hours, view game from your tent veranda, as the thirsty wildlife come down to the waterhole to drink. The main lodge area, along with the viewing deck, lounge and dining area stretching out onto an open deck with a fire pit, offers the quintessential Hwange experience. Activities include shared game drives in open 4x4 vehicles in the early mornings and evenings. Guests can also enjoy a guided walk, visit a local village and participate in community projects.

Day 2. Johannesburg / Chobe National Park, Botswana

Fly to Chobe National Park in northern Botswana, where wildlife roam in profusion and diversity. Settle into your safari accommodations and enjoy an afternoon activity in the park. (BLD)

Day 3. Chobe National Park

Take to the Chobe River for a boat cruise and gain another perspective on the area’s impressive wildlife. Chobe has the largest concentration of elephant in Botswana. Float quietly past pods of hippo feeding along the banks and spy some truly massive crocodiles soaking up the sun. (BLD)

Day 4. Chobe National Park

Hop aboard your comfortable 4x4 safari vehicle with your professional ranger to seek out the animals. Listen for the low growls of the lioness and her cubs. Take in the vistas of the vast herds of Cape buffalo. (BLD)

Day 5. Chobe National Park, Botswana / Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

After a leisurely breakfast, gather your gear for your overland road transfer to the spectacular Victoria Falls. Later this afternoon board your boat for a sundowner cruise on the Zambezi River. Sit back, relax and have your camera ready to capture the evening's golden moments. Look out for the lurking crocodiles on the riverbanks, the noisy hippos and the flocks of birds skimming the waterline. (B)

Day 6. Victoria Falls

Look out for rainbows as you walk the misty rain forest trail of the falls. Marvel at the spray and thunderous noise of the water tumbling over Main Falls, Horseshoe Falls and Rainbow Falls. Dinner is at The MaKuwa-Kuwa Restaurant this evening. (BD)

Day 7. Victoria Falls / Hwange National Park

Fly to the land of the giants, Hwange National Park, known for its herds of elephants. Settle into your tented camp, with breathtaking views of the savanna plains. You won’t have to look far to spot the wildlife. (BLD)

Day 8. Hwange National Park

Rise early to join your ranger for a game drive. Catch the soft morning light for wonderful photographs of the grazing buffalo, and the more uncommon gemsbok and roan antelope. Join a night game drive, spotlighting the nocturnal animals in action. (BLD)

Day 9. Hwange National Park

Begin the day with a walking safari to explore the bush, a haven for large herds of buffalo, zebra and elephant. After lunch join a game drive or tuck into a viewing hide to look out for kudu, sable antelope, wildebeest and bird life. (BLD)

Enjoy your last morning in the bush. You’ll soon be on your way to the airport for a flight to Johannesburg and your onward destination. (B)
